New York City is known for its food, drinks, and entertainment. It’s the best city in the world to eat in, with devoted corners throughout the boroughs celebrating the best of the best. First, there was the Westside’s Chelsea Market, then Eataly introduced a new type of food epicenter, and now the Tin Building in Seaport has elevated the multi-booth market to Michelin-level heights.

Arguably the most esteemed chef in the world, Jean-George Vongerichten, with a vast bevy of acclaimed restaurants (Jean-Georges, abc Kitchen, and The Mercer, to name a few), opened his breathtaking 53,000 sq foot marketplace in the renovated Tin Building on South & Beekman street.

Costing approximately $195 million, every inch of the space is curated to perfection and is a feast to the eyes and mouth.

As opposed to various vendors seen in the Chelsea Market, all the booths and restaurants are tied to Jean-Georges's taste and design (Roman and Williams). Words, pictures, and videos don’t do the pristine space justice.

In a city with infinite experiences, the Tin Building is a must-see.

Walk through the Seaport District's newly re-designed cobble-stoned main street, cross an overpass, and, “Set under the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge, the two-story building offers an unexpected array of culinary experiences designed to delight and engage the senses–including multiple restaurants with open kitchens, innovative retail concepts, and an impeccably stocked central market...”*

After marveling at the stark white and green exterior, enter through the heavy glass doors and become transported into a wonderland of luscious florals, the freshest seafood, the flakiest buttery pastries, and a surprise around every corner.

One of the most extraordinary moments was when we were meandering through the petite Asian market tucked away on the second floor. When peaking through thick green velvet curtains placed in the back corner, behold…

House of the Red Pearl, a full-sized Chinese restaurant oozing moodiness with interior designs evoking a Wong Kar-Wai film.

Come for a taco on the go, try out their specialty cured meats and cheeses hand-picked by friendly mongers, browse their kitchen store to pick up a new saucier, sit down at their Belle-epoque brasserie for a timeless french feast, and make sure whatever you do to snag one of the best pain au chocolat’s we’ve ever had on your way out.

If you've never experienced Harrod’s food hall in London, don’t worry; now you have access to something possibly more sumptuous.

Run, don’t walk to The Tin building, with preview hours Thursday-Sunday before it fully launches this fall (we suggest going right at noon on Thursday before it gets too packed).
